Topic: Inquisitive HKO players within~!! Please hear our queries~
Hello, everyone!  I'm excited to have been selected to become a Founder, and can't wait to see you all in-game!  In the meantime, I'd like to ask some questions that have been on my mind for a little while.

  • Character Appearance
    • In the last Beta stage, there were very few options when it came to selecting your character's hair and face.  In Founder's Beta (henceforth to be shortened to "FB" to make typing easier...), can we expect the character creation system to be greatly expanded upon?  This is something that normally would not overly concern me in a game's beta stage, but announcements have said that those who participate in FB will get to keep their characters once the game fully opens.  The only problem with that is... what if a new hairstyle is added later, and someone from FB thinks it's really really cool, and wishes that their character could have it...  Eheh.  This concern sounds so weak while I'm writing it, but character customization is important to me (especially in MMO's) and I'm sure others feel the same...
    • If it does turn out to be the case that the full version of the game adds new appearances, is there a way in-game to change how your character looks, without deleting it and starting all over again?  An example of this would be like a hair salon or something.
  • Multiple Characters on One Account
    • Is each account limited to having only one character, or can we have more?  (This isn't a huge concern, because creating new SanrioTown accounts is free...)
    • Will it be possible to trade items/money between accounts/characters that you have?
  • Preview Before Purchase
    • In my understanding of the hompy system during the Closed Beta stage, players purchased a land title deed with a number (1 through 4, if I remember correctly), and the different numbers resulted in a different "themed" house (one pink and girly, another with a tiki theme, et cetera).  Is there a preview option for this system?  What if someone just doesn't like their tiki house, and wishes they had a pink one instead?  Again, this question goes back to the idea of personalization being an important factor in MMO's.
    • Same question, but for farms.  There are several different farm themes pictured in screenshots, but are these purchases seperate from buying your home?  Or does your home and farm share one theme, which is purchased at the same time?  (Sorry, I know that question is lame. n_n;)
    • This blog entry of Ripplecloud's reveals makeup as an equipable option, which I never knew about before reading it and I think is a wonderful addition (are we all very clear on the fact that BunnyWinx loves personalizing her character?).  But, she mentions that the makeup cannot be previewed before equipping, and it cannot be removed from the character (presumably until you purchase a new makeup design).  Same concern here as everywhere else in this post... preview before purchase is important.
  • Controls
    • I haven't heard a lot from folks about the controls of the game.  If I had to guess, I would say that character movement is predominantly done by clicking on an area of the ground and your character walks to it automatically.  This method of movement is fine for the most part, but I have carpal tunnel and sometimes using the mouse a lot can be painful...  Does the game also support movement by using the arrow keys, or WASD?
    • Shortcut keys... can we assign oft-used skills to the F or number keys, for quick access?

Haha... I know it's a lot to read, I'm sorry. XD  I think there was more I wanted to know about, but this is all that I can remember for now.  Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated~  Alternatively, feel free to just say "BunnyWinx!!  Just wait the 12 more days until FB opens and find out for yourself!"

Those are great questions and I would like to know the answer to them too.  I really hope we can customize our characters and our homes/farms to the way we see best.

I'm a founder too!  Hope to see you in the game!

Practically every question you just listed are questions I am wondering about as well. Especially the one I quoted. Character appearance is really important to me when it comes to online games. And seeing how we get to keep everything from Founders, in many cases that is just wonderful and overwhelming, but if we can't change apperance and more styles will be released for creation... that would be one downside..  (although it would be the only one)

I would like to know a bit more about charactar creation too. I assume they are all human. Are they different ages? Are there "classes" of charatars that have certain ablities?
Also, I can't imagine how the actual gameplay goes. I saw there were quests to do and you can grow stuff.
I have been perusing the website but haven't seen anything specific. I don't expect a long reply but any links would be cool.

Yay, I'm so happy that I'm not the only one who has been wondering about these things.  I would have felt so fail if everyone just said "no one cares about those things but you, BunnyWinx!"

After surfing around a little bit, I found what could serve as answers for some of my questions... in screenshots (like this one, of Neverender's) there are slots at the top that looks to be a shortcut key bar.  It looks like there is a consumable item there, which is good to see, but I'm still unsure if skills can go there too... or if the slots correspond with keys on the keyboard rather than having to click on them.

Also, it is sounding like each account gets only one character, but it is still unknown whether it's possible to begin trades with people who are offline (thus being able to trade items/money between accounts).

Mothy's questions are good, but I think I pretty much know the answers to them... all player characters are human, and it doesn't look like we can select an age for them.  Classes of characters is something I don't know, but it would be pretty cool to party up with people who act as tanks/healers/buffers/whatever other MMO classes you can think of...

...Which brings another question to mind... are there special skills/powers in this game at all??  Like, the sort of stuff other games would call "magic" ... because my HKO experience isn't complete until I can shoot a beam of glittery hearts from my hands, amiright??

Well, it didn't occur to me that there'd be a need for a 'tank' in this game . I can't imagine having to "hold aggro" in something like HKO but who knows. I see there are quests to do and stuff to make. I also like to wander to see what the programmers put in.
I think it might be a light hearted diversion from real life as well as from the more serious games. (serious games??? kinda an oximoron)
Let's say intense. Thanks for the reply.

I would hope the character appearance be somewhat different; I really didn't like looking like everyone else the last time I played.

You don't exactly gain level by killing monsters, so that sort of makes your normal tanks and healers in other MMOs redundant.
Here's a link if you need more information, not sure if you've read it before since its old news - http://news.mmosite.com/content/2008-07-19/20080719201204068,2.shtml

Considering this game is selling itself as an MMO that is also a social network with SanrioTown, I am more interested in seeing how far Sanrio can push the envelope in terms of get integrated with the blogs, DreamStudio and forum. For example, having the option to use my HKO avatar as the forum avatar, instead of the character Sanrio character avatars, also profile page features like adding friends, and syching the friend's list between the game and my SanrioTown blog page for example, etc. Am I starting to get too far-fetch? I don't know.

So am definitely excited to see what are the changes in the upcoming Founder's Beta. ^_^

Great link Ripple. Gave me some better idea of gameplay. I also just now looked at this link from the Homepage.

Should've done it sooner:

Like both articles said there will be some of us "hardcore" gamer looking at this for the casual aspect and to see how they pull it off.
